Knight_Ranger Comics: Lost #1 (of 4)

Written by: Derek Glascock
Art by: Jaysin Osterkamp

A word of warning before we get started: this comic book has nothing to do with JJ Abrams’ television series and this is a comic intended for mature readers.

Lost isn’t about super heroes, there’s no action and well, nothing really happens. I’m not bashing the book; in fact, these are the qualities that make it so endearing. Chazz is an aspiring writer who does his best avoiding the monotony of life in the 21st century; he’s an idealist who studies those who have long given up on their childhood hopes and dreams for inspiration. He works a dead end job and spends his free time hanging out with his two friends Petey and Rog.

So, I went to Wizard World Chicago this weekend and much to my surprise, I was able to see the new Phaser from Art Asylum/Diamond Select Toys! When I arrived on Friday, the person I spoke with said that the prototype would be arriving on Saturday. First thing Saturday I made my way to the booth and to borrow a quote…."There she is (or was in this case)!"

Peacekeeper Comics: Star Trek: Assignment Earth

During the second season of Star Trek: The Original Series, Gene Roddenberry wrote an episode that he planned to be a pilot for another series. The episode introduced viewers to Gary Seven, a human being that was raised by highly advanced aliens and trained to work at protecting the human race. Together with his beautiful shape shifting cat Isis and his secretary, Roberta Lincoln, Seven was to have many adventures. This series never happened but the episode stands as one of the better episodes of Trek’s three-year run. Gary Seven and company lived on in various novels including the Khan books by Greg Cox.

Peacekeeper Comics: The Dresden Files

If J.K. Rowling and Raymond Chandler had bastard love child it would be Harry Dresden. Alas, they did not; Dresden is the literary creation of Jim Butcher. The character has spent 10 novels fighting the good fight against evil as the only wizard in the Chicago Yellow Pages. His life isn’t like other wizards we know of who go to cushy schools and have owls that deliver the mail; this Harry spends his days trying to stay ahead of bill collectors and getting fed.
