Still at the NY Anime Festival, Arcane Guyver talks to Sonny Strait who is a voice actor, director, writer, and illustrator that knows no bounds.  As a voice actor, his most notable roles include Dragon Ball Z’s Krillin, Full Metal Alchemist’s Maes Hughes, and the original voice of Tom on Cartoon Network’s Toonami. Currently he portrays Usopp on FUNimation’s One Piece.  As a writer and director, he’s worked on Dragon Ball, Lupin III, Case Closed, Kodacha and Kiddy Grade. As an illustrator, he’s behind DC’s Elfquest series and is currently writing and drawing three manga-styled graphic novels for TOKYOPOP called We Shadows.  Sonny Strait is co-sponsored by FUNimation.

Log Vol 2 #83 - Lisa Ortiz

While at the NY Anime Festival, Arcane Guyver and Peace Keeper talk with Lisa Ortiz who began her career as a voice actor with a string of serendipitous events that included a car theft, and a traveling menagerie. While not auspicious in and of themselves, they led to the invitation to her first audition, where she subsequently won the  role of Deedlit in “Record of  Lodoss of War”.  She hasn’t looked back since and her extensive resume has gone on to include a multitude of well known and character defining roles, including: Lina Inverse in Slayers, Tsubasa in His and Her Circumstances, Amy Rose in Sonic X, and Icy and Musa in Winx Club (amongst others). She has lent her voice to a variety of mediums, including commercials, video games, film, internet and television. Lisa is a classically trained actress and singer, and has most recently created the role of Rosie in the workshop production of the new musical, “Stone Cold Beauty”.

Log Vol 2 #80 - Larry Elmore

Back at the Con on the Cob, KJ talks to Larry Elmore who has been creating fantasy and science fiction art for over 20 years. He worked as a staff artist for TSR, Inc. from 1981 to 1987. While at TSR, Mr. Elmore helped set the standards of gaming art in the role-playing genre.

Besides creating covers for Dungeons & Dragons, AD&D and other gaming books, he may be best known for his work with the world of Dragonlance. Since 1987, Mr. Elmore has been working as a freelance illustrator, doing covers for comics, computer games, magazines, fantasy and science fiction books and many more projects too numerous to list here.

He has also been published in several industry periodicals such as Dragon Magazine, Gaming Frontiers, and The EN World Player’s Journal. Brannon is also known on the internet as “the guy that started the Official Planescape Website, Planewalker.com”, where he gained the pseudonym “Ashy”, which has stuck ever since…
