The Toybox: 35 Years of Hello Kitty

kittyHey all you Hello Kitty fans and collectors! 2009 has been a great year for us since it’s the 35th Anniversary of Hello Kitty! To us older collectors, this just doesn’t seem possible! Hello Kitty was created by Sanrio in 1974 and was first put on a coin purse. Now she is internationally known!

Check out Sanrio.com for special 35th Anniversary collector’s items: mugs, jewelry, plush, bags, wallets, school supplies and much more.  These items come in 35th Anniversary Hello Kitty Colors: red is for friendship, pink means cute, green stands for a wish, yellow means heartful and lavender is for sweet.

Target also has a few Hello Kitty 35th Anniversary items that are very affordable and are located near the school supplies aisle on an end cap. Since I am on the subject of
Target, they also carry lots of cute and useful Hello Kitty stuff in the $1 section a few times a year. This year they added a few more items that were $2.50.

For those of you that have an iPhone or iTouch, there is a free Hello Kitty 35th Anniversary app on iTunes. In the app, there is a really cute video showcasing the anniversary colors, Hello Kitty News, Hello  Kitty’s Profile and the Hello Kitty Museum: pictures showing how Hello Kitty’s style and clothing has changed over the past 35 years! The app is very interesting and cute, of course! iTunes has other Hello Kitty apps available also.

This week I thought it would be appropriate to share my Hello Kitty 30th Anniversary watch and tin set from Avon!
