Set for release in March 2010, the Nerf arsenal gets a new addition with the N-Strike Longstrike. Billed as the longest blaster Nerf has ever produced, the Longstrike is the sniper rifle you need for your next campus wide zombie hunt.
The Longstrike is a quite impressive piece of Nerf tech. When I saw the first images of it I was hooked. I knew just from just 1 picture I wanted this gun, no I needed this gun. Unlike the Raider Rapid Fire CS-35 that was released late 2009, this is not a multi-dart shooter. The Nerf Longstrike holds 6 darts in the clip with room for 2 more clips in the stock for easy access to more ammo(it comes with just one clip others can be purchased separately).
The gun comes in 3 parts: the main gun, the stock and the removable barrel. The barrel can be removed for a sawed off look or you can use a barrel from either the Longshot or the Recon to give your gun a completely different appearance. The stock is not interchangeable nor is it removable after it has been locked in place. Be sure that you want it attached because you will have to dismantle the rifle to get it removed. The Longstrike CS-6 also has a flip-up site and 3 tactical rails for attachments.
This blaster is over 3 feet long with the ability to shoot over 35 feet. Unfortunately the test firings I performed came up a bit shorter than 35 feet. I am not sure if the inaccuracy of this weapon is something that is indicative to this model or just the one I have but it hard to tag a small target. Despite the obvious flaw I really do like this rifle. The Longstrike does have some distance which does make up for whatever flaws it may have. Another thing that I do not like about the gun is the grip which is most uncomfortable to hold for long periods. This is not a major problem since as a sniper rifle you would not be walking around holding it by the grip. There are places to attach a shoulder strap (there is one available now from Nerf).
The Nerf Longstrike CS-6 is a re
ally cool addition to you armory. The flaws are minor and the look of the blaster is great. The fact that the barrels are interchangeable makes this not just one weapon but multiple weapons. I do like this weapon. No toy is perfect and this is not a precision weapon so you can not expect much. This gun looks great and is one really cool Nerf Blaster. Though not due out until March it is hitting shelves now and can be picked up for around 30 bucks. Pick this up for your next event you wont be disappointed.
