Matt and I have a large collection of Green Lantern figures and recently added DC Direct’s Blackest Night Series 3 which features a redo of the Carol Ferris Star Saphire, Larfleeze, The Orange Lantern, a female Green Lantern figure, Arisia, and the undead Black Lantern Aquaman.
Truthfully, I was surprised when Matt brought this version of Star Sapphire home. We have two copies of the original figure that were part of Green Lantern Series 3. This newer figure release is the same sculpt as the original release but molded in a translucent pink plastic with specks of silver glitter inside which gives her a iridescent, almost glowing quality to all the unpainted areas of the figure. Beyond this, it is the same as the original release. This figure also sufferers from what our young John Cook has labeled the Power Girl syndrome which means she is a bit rather top heavy. The Green Lantern Series 3 Star Sapphire doesn’t stand well by itself. Matt wound up gluing her to her base. DC Direct tried to correct this issue by making the peg on her supplied stand a bit wider and it seems to work.
The flesh colored paint used on this new Blackest Night Figure is a bit darker than the flesh colored plastic/paint used on the Green Lantern Series figure and helps distinguish it from the other. Also, The Blackest Night version comes with a pink power lantern and a Star Sapphire logo base instead of the Green Lantern base that came with her previous incarnation. All in all, I’m not sure if she was worth the added buy but she looks great on the shelf and it is too late now Matt says.

The Aquaman design is boring.
It’s not much different than his typical uniform so…yeah.
