It all starts innocent enough. A commotion causes a school administrator to investigate. Someone is outside the closed school gate and banging against it, trying to get in. Is this person crazy? Do they need help? No, they hunger. It only took one bite. In seconds, everything has changed. The disease of the living dead has arrived. Unannounced, it spreads like wildfire. Classmates and teachers are infected and turn upon one another. Panic erupts as friend turns upon friend. The zombie apocalypse has arrived!

 Dom's dream come true.
When I spoke of the first day at the New York City Comic Con, I said that it was a “mad house;” day one was a cake walk compared to the insanity that was Saturday afternoon. According to reports almost 100,000 people showed up to shop, meet and play. I met a variety of people that day and one of them, Danny Jiminez said to me, “I have never seen so many virgins together under one roof before.” I guess Danny hasn’t ever been to San Diego. Charlton Heston said it best in Planet of the Apes, “It’s a mad house…a mad house!!!” That is what opening day at the New York Comic/Anime Con was like. There were so many people walking up and down the aisles, sometimes it was hard to traverse certain areas. That was for the press and early entrants, then they let the rest of the world in and it was a sea of flesh.

Last week my wife sent me a link to this song. Checking about the Internet, I learned that the song is a parody of Katy Perry’s California Gurls. I later heard a portion of the original and all I could do was think that the Team Unicorn version is better. Let me know what you think.

A picture says a million words, but I’ll add a few more to it. It’s hard to walk around the Internet looking for game related news without bumping into this picture. A sleek and sexy color of the Wii. Many countries have this particular item already and the only real news is the rumors flying that it’s finally coming state side soon. What is the likelihood of this being real? Very Good.

Few anime out there have the power to catch my attention the way that Spice and Wolf has. It is a simple yet complex story with the ability to keep your attention from start to finish and yearning for more. I say this Anime has the power that few have for that face that it is almost 100% story based. Don’t get me wrong, there is action in this bad boy, but it’s only icing on the cake.

Video games offer all sorts of experiences, some exciting, others intriguing. For whatever reason, the titles that focus on dogfighting tend to have their own brand of thrill – either due to immersion or the feel of blasting others out of the sky. The Sky Crawlers: Innocent Aces delivers this for the Wii, with a fun twist – the controls kind of emulate those of a fighter plane!

Fate/Stay Night, what an odd name for a title. As far as I can see, it has little or nothing to do with the actual Anime with the possible accept ion of Fate. But what is fate really? Some would argue it doesn’t even exist. Fate, Destiny, an inevitable course of events. Some of us accept it. Some of us fight against it. For others it is thrust upon them. The Holy Grail Wars have been fought for centuries. Seven masters are selected by fate seals that enable them to summon servants to quest for the Holy Grail in a winner take all battle that will grant the victor and their servant one wish. Life for Shiro Emiya is going to get a lot more complicated.

The animated TV show Cowboy Bebop was hugely influential, and is considered by many to be a modern day classic. It contained a strong futuristic setting with planet-hopping bounty hunters as the focus. One could easily imagine an RPG played in such a setting…but no official game exists. Bounty Head Bebop, written by JP deHenaut and published by Heroic Journey Publishing, is an unofficial game based off of this iconic series.

Just like Hollywood, I’ve realized there are no new stories, only retellings of older ones. With that in mind, here’s my re-imagining of an old review from the original website, this time with more plot, bigger explosions, and even crasser language. It’ll make millions!!!
Keichi Morisato is the penultimate down-on-his-luck college bachelor. His life is nothing but a series of misfortunes, and the only things driving him are his hobbies and self-determination. This all changes, however, when one day he dials the wrong number and gets the ‘Goddess Hot-Line.’ Within seconds, a haltingly beautiful woman climbs out of his bedroom mirror, then proceeds to tell him he can have any one wish he desires. Awe-struck at how ‘perfect’ Belldandy is, Keichi mutters out loud: “I wish a goddess like you would be at my side always.” Keichi’s fortune forever changes with these words, and over time it becomes obvious that Belldandy always liked Keichi…the wish was just an excuse to act on how she feels. Thus, Keichi’s life takes a turn for the fantastic, as all his mundane troubles are slowly traded in for more amazing obstacles – like demons, Belldandy’s meddling sisters, and that occasional gut-wrenching feeling of ‘gotta take this relationship to the next level.’
