Ed chats with Andy Howell. Andy is a pilot and is stationed near the abandoned Air Force base where they are filming parts of the Green Lantern movie. He sent these photos and discusses ‘visiting the set’.
Besides that they discuss:
Brightest Day
Green Arrow
Avengers
Justice League
Ed’s shoes
This podcast was brought to you by the fine folks at FRPgames.com and the number 42.
Andy’s photos from the Green Lantern set are after the jump…

The dust has cleared after the end of Seige. The bad guys have been carted off. Every one gets a chance to take a breather. Thor, Iron Man and Steve Rogers take a moment to survey the devastation and wreckage. Both Iron Man and Steve Rogers offer their help and then promptly get into an argument.

Secret War….Civil War….Secret Invasion….Dark Reign….Siege….
All these story lines have lead us to this point, the opening of The Heroic Age. Norman Osbourne has been taken out of the picture. It’s up to Steve Rogers (formally Captain America) to put things back together.
The Avengers #1 replaces New Avengers and Mighty Avengers in Marvels lineup and re-installs our heroes back into Avenger’s tower.

 Siege #4
This is the book we’ve been waiting for. Literally. Two weeks late, the end of the year long Dark Reign storyline has finally arrived. We know the story’s end. Osbourne will be dethroned, The Sentry dealt with, and our heroes on the winning side. But, as a wise man once said, it the journey, not the destination that matters.

The interesting thing about the “linked” Avengers Siege titles (New Avengers, Dark Avengers, Mighty Avengers, etc.) is that instead of telling stories between the pages or issues of the main Siege mini-series as typical of the previous cross-overs, we are being shown what happened in the few hours right before Osbourne and H.A.M.M.E.R. attacked Asgard.

A few issues back in The New Avengers, Clint Barton aka Hawkeye now Ronin decided he had enough. He couldn’t take Norma Osbourne and his Dark Avengers masquerading as the real Avengers. He decides to hold a press conference to expose Osbourne as the Green Goblin. When no one seems to care, Ronin acts a fool and decides to go to Avengers Tower to kill Osbourne himself. Alone with no back-up. Acting a fool.

In January of 2009, Marvel Studios released a double feature DVD. This DVD included two movies with the Incredible Hulk as the central figure in both. Hulk Vs. includes both Hulk vs. Thor and Hulk vs. Wolverine. I will be reviewing both, but in my initial research I found that the movies were very different. I wanted to get my initial thoughts down about Hulk vs. Thor before allowing the viewing of the second film to cloud my thoughts of this one. Following the jump will be a short synopsis and review of this animated film.

I sat in Monarch Cards & Comics this week after having given Ed a ride to work on a raining day (saving you all from hearing about it in the podcast or Ed’s Shipping List). Ed indignantly asked, “Why aren’t you reading Ms. Marvel?” Since I had no real answer, I shuffled over to the racks and pulled issues #39-45 which included a few issues that set up the current War of the Marvels story line.

Okay, the picture may be hard to see, but let me assure you that yes, that is Luke Cage falling backwards in pain with a heart monitor line above him. The New Avengers team takes its punches and in this issue, takes them hard. In issue #56, the team got pretty beat up by the Hood’s syndicate of villains and got de-powered by their technology. And they got slammed hard.

Always with the quick primer:
Ares, Zeus’ son the God of War, joined the Avengers at Tony Stark’s request when Steve Rodgers and he re-formed the Avengers after the disassembled mess. Then, after Civil Wars and Secret Invasion, Ares stayed on the team when Norman Osbourne took over ’cause like what else was he going to to do, right?
On the flip side, Nick Fury, ex-head of S.H.I.E.L.D. secretly recruited Ares’ son Alex aka Phobos, the God of Fear, into his Secret Warriors formed to counter-action Osbourne. Fury and his team have been acting as a covert group in their own book, moving from safe-house to safe-house using counter agent tactics to subvert Norman Osbourne. As this issue opens, Ares has thinks Fury has kidnapped Alex and goes to get him back. Got it?

This movie confused the crap out of me. Is it an Ultimates movie? Is it an Avengers movie? Who are they trying to sell this PG-13 movie to, anyway? Well, hopefully some answers will be revealed as I dissect this OVA (original video animation).
