Followers of the Fist,
As your man at the floor at San Diego Comic Con 2010, I did my best to grab document some of the sights of the floor for those poor fans stuck at home. Below is a modest attempt to capture the absolutely overwhelming convention. You won’t believe how big it is until you attend and see for yourself. If you have any questions about the photos, feel free to post in the comments and I’ll do my best to explain what it is I was photographing, if I can remember that is ;0p

Peter David really knows how to write a comic book. He has all the action and excitement that superheroes should have with enough detective Noir and surprising storytelling to keep you wanting more. Typically, David likes to split up his team and have them working in different directions. In this issue, one storyline continues to deal with David’s recent surprise revelation that Rictor and Shatterstar are lovers.

Billy Kaplan and his friends have a lot to prove. As Young Avengers, these teens are trying to be taken seriously by older counterparts like Captain America and Iron Man. They have to hold their own fighting evil villains while not getting in trouble with their parents. And, as if that wasn’t enough, writer Allen Heinberg has decided that they are going to have their own miniseries, in which they are going to encounter their biggest challenges to date.

The New Mutants have grown up a lot in the past couple decades. Years ago, they were a team of teenage mutants who hoped to train hard enough to become X-Men. You should be careful what you wish for.

This isn’t a typical John Wayne Western story in any fashion. The Rawhide Kid’s new miniseries, The Sensational Seven, has lots of gun fighting, heroic cowboys, sneaky villains, and a very sexy Annie Oakley. However, what makes this story different from other Westerns is that main hero of the story is more interested in helping Annie Oakley get her hair done than he is with any typical macho stuff. If you aren’t familiar with Marvel’s Rawhide Kid, reading his books you’ll quickly realize that the toughest man in the West is also ‘absolutely fabulous’.

In Marvel’s continuing bid at world domination through market share, a brand new ‘adjective-less’ X-Men #1 hit the stands this week. Written by Victor Gischler (Deadpool, crime novel “The Deputy”) and penciled by Paco Medina (also Deadpool) pick up the ongoing X-Saga right on the heels of the recent Second Coming crossover and hit the ground running with a vampiric invasion of San Francisco, one that apparently targets everyone’s merry mutants.

Secret War….Civil War….Secret Invasion….Dark Reign….Siege….
All these story lines have lead us to this point, the opening of The Heroic Age. Norman Osbourne has been taken out of the picture. It’s up to Steve Rogers (formally Captain America) to put things back together.
The Avengers #1 replaces New Avengers and Mighty Avengers in Marvels lineup and re-installs our heroes back into Avenger’s tower.

A first look at the new designs of the Captain America that Chris Evans will be wearing in the upcoming The First Avenger movie. The images are 3-D renderings of the designs and Chris Evan’s face.
The design seems more inline with Cap’s outfit from the Marvel Ultimate line than the traditional Marvel 616 version. Much more in keeping with the current trend towards what we might see in the real world rather than typical spandex.
